LEGISLATURE
The legislative authority is vested in the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TGNA). The TGNA is composed of 550 deputies. Parliamentary elections are held every five years. Deputies represent the entire nation and before assuming office, take an oath. The text of the oath is included in the Constitution.
The TGNA are responsible for adopting, amending and abrogating laws, supervising the Council of Ministers and ministers, giving authority to the Council of Ministers to pass decrees with the power of law, adopting the budget and final account draft laws, ratifying the printing or minting of currency. Their duties also include making decisions concerning the declaration of war, martial law or emergency rule, approving the signing of international agreements, and making decisions for declaring general or special amnesties.
EXECUTIVE
The executive branch in Turkey has a dual structure. It is composed of the President of the Republic and the Council of Ministers.
